Thermal transfer Labels - You need One

However, when you talk about thermal transfer labels, you will be faced with issues that are related with them. The first issue is that these labels are very diverse when it comes to their sizes. The thermal transfer printers have fixed size of 4, 6 to 8 inches in width. Although in the past there are manufacturers who produced machines in different sizes, it is not the case anymore. The labels are available in different slots and the availability is unpredictable. The thermal transfer labels are using the thermal print heads. These heads have a fixed width and are pressed onto a label that is made up of plastic by a rubber roller. A thermal transfer ribbon is being sandwiched between the label and the print head.

They are usually made up of polyester and are coated on the side of the label. The ribbon is being rolled into the reels and is driven by a printing mechanism that is in tune with the labels. Thermal conductivity help, please?

I'm trying to work out how much m2 of 3mm thick brass (thermal conductivity =109) is needed ot handle 10kW of heat, with a temperature difference of 400C.

I've checked Wiki's formula, but every time I come out with a huge figure.

Any help gratefully appreciated, especially a formula to plug different variables into.

The heat flow is given by

Q=k * dT * A / x

Where k is the thermal conductivity, dT is the temperature difference, A is the surface area and x the thickness.

so A= Q * x / ( k * dT)

Plug in your numbers:

A = 10000 * .003 / (109 * 400)

= .000688 m2 (or about 7 square centimeters)

You may have been getting your scaling wrong for mm or something like that.
