Daddy Daycare: A Home Business Model
One never would have guessed that such a great family movie like "Daddy Daycare" would set up a great home business model for all those entrepreneurs out there, but it does. There are several things in this movie that a new or seasoned entrepreneur can glean from. Let's take a quick look at the jest of the story and find out what hidden treasures lie within.
So the movie begins with a typical family with the father in the corporate world of business. He has a wonderful job, but he and his friend both get laid off. This is where the adventure begins. The search for a new job begins. As we find out he has a hard time finding a job. In fact, he can't. Their life savings is being depleted, but they are making it work out. The wife goes back to work so there is income and he is left home with their 4 year old son whom he does not have the best of relationship with. As the story moves along, the two "boys" bond. Just as it was getting fun, dad gets his job back with a better position and good pay, but he realizes that the most important thing is his son (family).
This starts the adventure of having a home business. He and his friend partner up and start a daycare. It's rough at first, but they make it through. Eventually in the end it turns out to be a very successful business. But how did they get there? Well, it wasn't easy. I can tell you that. And starting a home business isn't easy. It's a lot of work, but it's worth it in the end. So let's take a look at how the stay home dads became heads of a daddy daycare.
Like a lot of families, they were struggling to make ends meet after he got laid off. One scene shows him balancing their account on their laptop, and he was able to pay everything with just a few cents left. A lot of home businesses start from homes like this. And like most businesses, there is an investment. They had to buy toys and equipment to get started. Then they had to go out and get clientelle. You can't have a business without customers. Even an internet home business needs that.
Business is hard at first. Then they do research of their competition and are able to get the business started. Then things are good for awhile. Usually when you are starting a business it is hard to get started, but then you are on an emotional high and things go well for awhile, but watch out for the downhill. There is always something that will try to thwart your business. In the movie it was the competition. A rivaling daycare tries to take them out of business and almost does. But they didn't give up. When faced with a problem, you just find a solution. There is always a solution. Some are easier than others. In the end they take all the business from their competition and the other daycare goes out of business. And that is the way it is in the real world. If you don't fight for your cause, you will be trampled on.
So what gave him the drive to never give up? It was his son. He loved his son so much and wanted him to be happy that he did everything in his power to make that happen. What about you?
