Jello Shooters Recipe – Create Your Own
That bottle of vodka in your cabinet – it's the source of many delights. Especially for making cocktails. Check your kitchen cupboard for packages of jello and you're armed to fire up your own jello shooters recipe. Remember them from college days? Everyone loved them and a jello shooters party was always a load of fun for everyone!
Vodka is the alcohol generally used to create a jello shooters recipe because it's colorless and almost tasteless – goes with any jello flavor you happen to have. But hey, we're no longer poverty-stricken students, and don't need to use that rough white alcohol – we can afford the good stuff from the top shelf in the liquor store. Your jello shooters recipes will taste smoother and the flavors will blend better. Put the bottle of vodka in the freezer as we need it as cold as we can get it; because of the alcohol content, it won't freeze. Tomorrow, we're going to make a jello shooters recipe.
We're going to make thirty-two one-ounce jello shots. So, we need a six-ounce package of jello, two cups of filtered water (much better taste), our icy bottle of vodka and a bunch of those little one-ounce paper or plastic cups from the party store. The plastic ones have lids; easier to stack.
Boil the two cups of filtered water and add it to the jello powder in a glass jug or bowl, stirring until completely dissolved. Let the jello mixture cool – we're going to add the vodka but not while it's hot, otherwise it will evaporate – disaster. Once it's cooled, add two cups of our good vodka and stir well. Pour the delightful results into one-ounce cups and allow to set in the fridge for at least six hours. You have successfully made jello shooters.
Check one for taste and "setness" by running a toothpick or stir-stick around the edge and letting it plop on your tongue. Easier still – add the stir sticks before allowing the shooters to set; or if you're using paper cups, spray each with a little cooking oil which allows the shot to just land on your tongue. But sometimes, it's more fun to just suck the little fellas out! So that's one of our basic vodka jello shooters recipes. Sophisticated Margarita Jello Shooters
One six-ounce package of lime jello, two cups boiling water, one and a half cups of white tequila, a quarter cup of Cointreau or Triple Sec and a quarter cup of fresh lime juice.
Ho Ho Coke Jello Shooters
A six-ounce package of cherry jello, one cup boiling water, one cup chilled Coke, two cups white rum.
Psychedelic Jello Shooters
Three different six-ounce packages of jello. Prepare one packet, using half the recipe given above. Fill your shooter cups one-third full and allow them to set well. Repeat the process for the other two packages so that you have three colored jello layers in each shooter cup – do remember to let them set completely between layers. Chill them well and your shooter cups are now full and ready to go. Light a few candles to reflect in the jewel-like colors and you have an instant party!
Just add people – but remember, jello shooter recipes are not desserts – enjoy them responsibly.
