The Sense of Home Scents
It makes sense to have enticing scents in your home when you are trying to sell it. Paying attention to the smell of a home is a fairly recent idea in terms of marketing appeal.
When real estate agents first suggested that home owners baked hot buns in their oven on 'Open House' day, it was considered to be quite an innovative idea! Marketing nowadays has reached such professional proportions that different scents in different rooms are now considered to be avant-garde.
Just about all of us are unaware of the smell that greets us on entering our homes. We are accustomed to it, and unless there is an usual smell in the home, we do not register any awareness of smell. If new carpets have been fitted, this incorporates the odor of the fabric into the air, and changes the general scent of the home; likewise if someone is drying their laundry, you can tell as soon as you enter a home.
However, a stranger walking into your home will immediately register the 'smell' of your home and will undoubtedly form a subconscious opinion on you and your home as soon as they breathe your air!
From a selling point of view, you will want this opinion to be a positive one. Assuming that you have taken care of the 'curb appeal' aspect of selling your property, this entry into your home is the next step for your buyer.
While a dog can be very welcoming, doggy smell may be off-putting, especially to a non-dog lover. Make sure you launder the dog blankets frequently, as air fresheners can only do so much! Another area that you may have less control over is a teenage bedroom. Those sweaty athletic socks shoved under the bed could be calling out and offending strange nostrils!
Perhaps your teenager would like one of those plug- ins that radiates the room with scent. If not, at least keep a spare one handy for plugging in half an hour before the visit.
Having a plug-in air freshener right in the hallway by the front door is a really good investment. It probably costs about $2.00 per week to leave on all the time and will certainly take care of first impressions. Use a fairly generic smell like sea breeze or pine as the front door air freshener needs to appeal to all types of nostril!
Experts on scenting in the home tell us that vanilla is a must for the kitchen. There are also candles and scents in apple pie and creme brulee. Of course, you will have to deal with the backlash of the disappointed family when you end up only serving jello for dessert!
Bathrooms must always have that sparkling clean smell, such as pine or citrus. Here a scented candle would be nice, to suggest an ambiance of relaxation that many people like in the bathroom nowadays. Soft music from a small CD player would add to that atmosphere, as well as some shaded lighting. (However the mirror always needs bright lighting).
Remember those rooms that you never use, a musty smell is a no-no. Keep some kind of air freshener in there as mustiness is difficult to keep at bay.
Finally, many of us have a coat closet right by our front door....with shoes in! Hang something that will smell nice in that closet, and encourage everyone to change the shoe routine for a while.
This may sound like a lot of fuss, but if you just scent the bathroom, kitchen, hall and any problem area, the rest of the house will soak up the overload!

I'm looking for a certain lemon pie recipe?
I found a lemon pie recipe in a cook book once that had both lemon pudding and lemon jello in the ingredients and i'm having a hard time finding it again... and i think it might have had marshmallow creme too but don't quote me on it... Anybody have something like that?
This one uses vanilla pudding instead of lemon, but it does have lemon jello in it.
LEMON ICE BOX PIE
---------------------------CRUST--------------------------------
16 Graham cracker squares;
-finely crushed
8 ts Margarine; melted
--------------------------FILLING-------------------------------
2 sm Pkgs. sugar-free vanilla
-pudding
3/4 c Lemon juice; fresh
2 ts Lemon rind; grated
2 sm Pkgs. sugar-free lemon jello
Mix graham crackers and margarine; spread evenly into
9″ pie plate. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Cool.
Prepare pudding according to package directions. Bring
lemon juice and rind to a boil; dissolve jello in
lemon juice. Add this mixture to pudding and mix well.
Cool. Spoon into crust. Chill.

This is not a pie, but I don't see why you can't put it in a shortbread cookie pie crust or graham cracker and serve it like a pie, but it has the ingredients you are looking for.
