Knife Retail

Global Knife Block
During the 1980s, Komin Yamada set out to design and develop a brand of revolutionary modern knives. He was successful in his goal, developing the first GLOBAL knives in 1985. These knives were meant to be attractive to both amateur and professional chefs, and they definitely are. With several celebrity chefs touting the durability and performance of GLOBAL knives, you can be assured that you will be satisfied with the quality.
When you set out to buy a GLOBAL knife set, you will find that they are a bit more expensive than other brands. Their high quality more than justifies the price. You can save on the cost of these knives by buying them online, where they can be found at half the price of high end retailers.
GLOBAL knives utilize technology based on the precision of Samurai swords, which were known to be perfectly balanced. They are made from a thinner form of high carbon stainless steel, which makes them lighter than other knives of comparable quality. Their one-piece construction is seamless, which makes them more sanitary than other knives that might have small crevices, where food particles can live and create bacteria.
These knives are so well balanced because of the sand that fills the hollow handles, allowing for the precision for which they are so well known. The handles are also textured with small indentations that aid in a sturdy grip, even when wet.
One popular GLOBAL knife set is their G888/91st 9-Piece Knife Set with Block. This set comes with an Asian cook's knife, a carving knife, bread knife, serrated utility knife, vegetable knife, utility knife, two sizes of paring knives, and the stainless steel storage block. Razor sharp blades slice easily through any food. Extreme sharpness of a knife can actually reduce the risk of kitchen injuries since you don't have to work as hard to slice or chop. The thinness of the blade and lightness of the entire knife reduce the stress of your wrist and prevent fatigue from constant cutting or chopping.
Though GLOBAL knives can be more expensive, they are well worth the investment. You will never have to replace them, and you more than likely be faithful to this newer brand. GLOBAL has definitely proven to the world that Japanese knives can be just as good, if not better, than the traditional German styles.

Souvenirs to bring back from Paris/Zurich?
I will be going to zurich in january and go for a week to paris probably also i was wondering what sort of souvenirs are available there? How much does a good swiss army knife retail for? Also are pop tarts available there as they were discontinued in aus a long time ago and i crave them. Are hoodies acceptable for a teen to where there in jan do u wear t-shirts or what? Tell me what clothing a 16 year old boy should wear there and such.
First clothing.
You can wear what you want, but make sure you have enough layers.
In January it will be cold in Zurich (snow, freezing at least at night but likely also during the day,) and can be cold in Paris, (even when it does not freeze, cold winds and rain are to be expected.)
If you are from Australia, bring your warmest clothing and expect to buy some more warm gear as you will find it COLD.
About souvenirs.
You can buy Swiss army knifes all over the world, and while they are less expensive in Switzerland, they are still not cheap. But what I have only seen in that country, they can engrave the knife with your chosen text, like a name or a few words, when I was there they could do it on each kind of Swiss army knife they had in stock, the length of the text was limited to the size of the knife and only one font available.
Other souvenirs you might find worth bringing home?
Things you can use are, in the long run, more fun to have than things to put on show. You can think about a belt or belt buckle, a pair of shoes that are not (yet) available at home, and of course, T-shirts and alike or if you bring something for the people at home, a cookies tin or table mat that is special because you brought it home, not because there is an Eiffel tower printed on it. (And remember Australia does not allow any plant materials being imported so no nice wooden carvings or fruits as souvenir, read up on the rules before leaving if you think you will want to bring many 'different' souvenirs.)
Of course, there are many 'standard' souvenirs, miniature Eiffel towers, snow balls with mountains and loads of printed goods that are basicaly the same as you would find (and not buy) in the souvenir shops at home.
I do not know about pop tarts, (I have never met them as far as I know,) but I do know that there are many kinds of things to eat available.
If you can, bring a good photo or so and ask in a sweets shop, or just ask. Many people speak English, but do start in the local language, (if only good morning,) so they know you want to make an effort. Makes the people way more helpful.
Have a great time in Europe.
