How to Be a Life-style Lolita
The lolita lifestyle isn't exactly a lie. There are people who claim to be a life style lolita while there are those who think that it's just a fashion. The only lie people spread about the life style idea is that one should always be sweet and polite, one should know tea/table ettiquette, wear lolita everyday, etc.
As the other person said, most lolitas are just normal people who happen to like frills. There aren't any rules about how to be a life style lolita - it's really more or less a personal ideal of how one should live life, such as enjoying things that are pretty. The people who claim to be life style lolitas say that they've simply always been into or are attracted to anything beautiful and participate in activities such as embroidery, regardless if they've ever encountered the fashion. Everyone I've talked to say that because you are in lolita, doesn't mean that you should be anymore or less polite than you were in tees and jeans.
For your question about being a life style sweet lolita, it isn't necessarily hard when you understand what the fashion is about. When you understand the basics, you can follow through with your own interpretation of sweet lolita. I dress in sweet lolita from time to time. Because my lolitahood started a couple years ago, when lolita was just starting to be recognized in the West, I prefer wearing simpler coordinates minus the wonky accessories like mini hats and maidy headdresses and platformed shoes. I tend to stick to plain pastels with few embellishments and wear simpler accessories like pearl headbands and jewelry. It's almost to the point where it's classic lolita. Some people like to wear the recent evolution in sweet lolita where it's over the top with accessories and prints are very intricate. Whatever you decide to do, don't feel limited that you have to choose that style alone - most people own various items of multiple brands and styles! Just remember to have fun while you're at it.
