Dear Mary Director,
You have been told "Do not offer to use your own inventory to help her start because it will make her weak, and she may never order, if she can use you for her warehouse. That is not fair to you."
It is becoming increasingly clear that Mary kay "training" means how to SELL Inventory to Consultants, and not product to customers.
Following is a letter that I received from a lovely, heart broken mary kay consultant.
As you read this, don't be angry. I am not the enemy. Instead realize if something doesn't change, then you will be out of business and/or your consultants will turn to those like me who will show them how to build a successful business!
Hello
My name is J. P. and I'm a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. I have been In business in 3 years. I found out about Mary Kay Inc in my senior year in high school. I was very young at the time but I saw the opportunity of the company and the products. I join in head first and I got no help from my Recruiter or Director. But I was still giving $500 every couple of months for inventory. I was told by my Recuiter to give the money to her to make my order. Then one day I decided to call the corporate office to get information to do my taxes. The operator told me that I never made any order. Thats when I found out the money that I was giving her, she was putting it in her own name. So I never got credit for it only her, so I quit. Then Five Years later I started to see more Mary Kay vehicles out on the road and they had more to offer. So I rejoined again and now Even though things are diffrent now but its hard. My new Director will not speack to me because I have not gotten any inventory since I joined. I had recuited two people and they both quit because the treatment that they recieve from my Director and others in Mary Kay. I stop going to the meeting or conference call. When I did go to Unit meetings, I told my Director I wanted to learn my business first before I started to sell it. She told me to just sell and you will learn on your way. But the methods they taught to get business only got me hurt by mean people and disrespected. So I just only sold to my Co-workers.Now that I'm laid off I can't sell to my co-workers because they too is with out a job. All I want from my business is everything that they have to offer. I want to be a Director and my team to be a two million dollar unit. I want to own that pink Cadillac, and I want to own properties. But I don't have a clue how to get my business and dreams off the ground. Every thing Mary Kay teaches only leads to a dead end, too mix emotion, and broken dreams.
Help I'm in a pink hell.

How do I get into selling Mary Kay makeup?
I have never sold Mary Kay or Avon. How can I get into selling Mary Kay? Does it cost anything to start selling? How much do you get paid for selling it? Someone please explain this whole thing to me, I have no idea. What happens if you can't get anyone to buy from you?
Mary Kay starter Kit is $100 you get over $300 in product to get you started it includes trays,mirrors,order forms books and more I can send you a sheet that has the break down. Then you have the option to purchase inventory based on what you want from you business. Do not let anyone tell you it is required. You are an independent contractor buying directly form the wholesaler so you buy for $1.00 and sell for $2.00 making you money from the customer. You do not wait to get paid from the company you control that by collecting from the customer if you choice no inventory then you want to collect 50% to all the money up front ( remember you buy for half prose the balance is your profit) Okay as far as not getting anyone to buy from you I can't image that happening especially since I started strictly for personal use with no intention of selling it and found it very easy to sell but lets say no one does then you paid $100 for over $300 in full size product you can keep for yourself or give as gifts. I love thee philosophy of try before you buy and building relationships with your customers not a one time sale. I came from a financial background so I researched thee company before I even considered it. What I found amazed me not only is the business plan taught at major universities around the a would but Mary Kay also has a charitable foundation to support research for cancers that affect women and ending domestic violence. Like I said I was only do it for personal use in the begging but after getting pregnant I was able to quit my job and stay home with my children.
