Hmmm. These are for making little onigiri (Japanese rice balls, filled or jusr rice) in small children's bentos (box lunches) for school. If you want to create the little molded rice free-standing in the bento among other things, dampen the mold first, pack rice in it, and then push the shape out with your fingers. It looks like it has protective caps for top and bottom if you simply want to carry just one onigiri. Not to state the obvious but, of course, this will only work with short-grained (Japanese or other variety) rice. Long grain rice won't stick together.
