The two most common colors are natural, which looks like beech, and carbonized, which is often likened to oak. Natural bamboo is materially stronger than the carbonized type because the carbonization process causes a softening. But despite this, many people remain undeterred and go for carbonized bamboo floors because of the deep color the flooring attains. These days, bamboo hardwood flooring is equally popular among professional and do-it-the-folk-way home remodelers. Why the widespread popularity and outstretched love? For starters, choosing bamboo for your home's polished ground helps out the planet. Traditional hardwood floors, made of trees, have a very hard time replenishing their source. Everybody knows trees are the longest living things on the planet -- they can last several thousands of years -- but despite their longevity, they just take a really long time to reach maturity. They can't help themselves. They just accumulate their rings ever so slowly.
In contrast, bamboo looks like a tree, because it's tall and grows in forests. It also helps its trompe l'oeil, immensely, that it's as strong as the very wood from a long-departed tree. But what every bamboo flooring company will be most exited to tell you about is that bamboo is not a wood, but a grass, with a fast growth cycle. To top off all its wonders, bamboo material can be cultivated for human use without even killing the plant itself. The tree, which must, upon surrendering its trunk, die, cannot compete with this kind of sustainability.
Bamboo is capable of growing 47 inches within the span of a day. Such a strong growth force allows it to attain its full maturity status in approximately three to five years. The most amazing part of the processes for making bamboo floors is that when bamboo is harvested for use, its root system survives. Other things bamboo has going for it? It has very few natural pests. This last quality will remain even in its life as your home's floor. Can there be more to say about the wonders of bamboo? Yes, but that is for next time.

How strong is a treated bamboo?
Is it possible to inter-weave treated bamboo, lay it out above a large pond, cover it with slabs of stone or cement, then build one to two story structures above it? If not bamboo, what natural material may be used so that we can build structures completely above a living (not stagnant) pond, but not actually disrupting the pond below it?
Assume the pond is a cave lake instead. Thus no need to worry about mushy, muddy banks.

If you're trying to build a structure over a pond in most states, they would require very special permits, or not allow it at all...because another point it would be very difficult to insure.
Structures over water are rarely done because wetlands are factually known as unstable.
What would happen if a heavy rainstorm came by and over flooded the pond...possibly making the water rise to engulf the structure.
IF youre serious about construction on water, then you must drive or form concrete or steel pilings into the water for the proper support.
This becomes very expensive because very heavy equipment must be involved.
