The Ritual of Beer Drinking in Prague
In Prague, drinking a beer, or pivo, is anything but a trivial activity—you may find yourself closely observed by a sceptical audience, curious to take your measure. The beer lover who is anxious not to offend should order something on tap, either a Budweiser Budvar (totally unrelated to American Bud, since it is brewed in the town of Ceske Budejovice, just south of Prague), a Plzenske or—the ultimate—a Pilsner Urqell, a strong, golden potion brewed since 1842 in the town of Plzen (Pilsen in German). In the stifling, hazy summer heat, you'll want to drink your beer on the terrace of a Hospoda (beer bar); a toast is always proposed to the health of Gambrinus, the patron saint of fermented hops, whose name is also borne by a brand of Pilsner. Finally, you should probably know that beer has been brewed in Prague since the middle of the 15th century and that svelte is lager, tmave—bitter, cerne—stout, and rezne, a lager-bitter mix. Remember, too, that when toasting, you look your fellow drinker in the eye: staring into your tankard is culturally bad form.
Three of Prague's best places to partake in the ritual of beer drinking are Kavarna Velryba, Pravda, and Letensky Zamecek.
1. Kavarna Velryba (at Opatovicka 24) is a friendly bar where locals tend to settle in and stay awhile in a pretty ocher and yellow room, despite the new-wave background music issuing from everywhere, and an elevated noise level. Groups of friends join other groups of friends, and you may make repeated trips to the bar before giving up and ordering a vegetable salad with yogurt dressing or a fruit pancake. Beer drinking and talking constitute essential social acts, and this is a great place for both. An art gallery displaying the work of both Czech and foreign photographers completes the bar's set-up.
2. Pravda (at Parizska 17) is like a younger twin brother to Barock cafe, as it is based on the same concept and was opened by the same owners. Located on of the city's most elegant streets, and nearby to upscale Prague hotels, Pravda nevertheless distinguishes itself from its brother by its starker décor in black and white and the fortuitous absence of photos of supermodels plastered on the walls.
3. Letensky Zamecek (at Letenske sady 341) is a biergarten, one of the handful in Prague, that offers a panoramic view of the Old Town. On one of those warm summer afternoons only found in the heart of Europe, take a seat under the linden trees choosing between the traditional "café" side or the charming, open-air beer garden.

there is no mention of the capacity of these glasses. An email to Mikasa has gone unanswered. Is a pilsner glass a standard size? Seems odd the website would not state ounces.

Pilsner glass is a bartenders scam. a 12 oz glass holds about 10 oz of beer after you take the calculation of the head out. They have their place in developing flavor on the beer and degassing.
Pilsner glasses generally come in a number of sizes as others have noted but remember to take off 2 to 4 ozs depending on size to accommodate the head.
To see what i mean take a glass. Fill it to where you think it should be. Place a coaster over it and invert it. look at the void. That is a scale model of what is lost in shape.
