Where can I park at Richmond International Raceway?
My dad is going to a race at RIR something this September. He asked me to find out where he should park, but all I see on their website is that there is plenty of parking. If I just get him directions to the complex entrance, will he be able to find a parking lot from there? Thanks!!
Yep, plenty of parking. Plus, there are a few lots where you can pay to park. Heck, there are people who live in the area who will rent parking spots in their yard.
My suggestion is to get there early. 4, 5 hours early at least. Earlier if you can make it. Park at the Richmond International Raceway. (Also referred to as the Richmond Fairgrounds, for another year or two.) Don't worry about getting bored, there is plenty to do at RIR before and during a race. The local law enforcement does very well in getting traffic in and out of the raceway, but there are still a ton of people coming in for the race and it's going to take forever.
If he's just trying to avoid traffic, then don't attend the race. Traffic during the race is just a fact of life. It bites. Pay attention to directions from the Henrico Police and don't try to rush the traffic.
Good luck to your dad and I hope that he has fun at RIR!
