Steel Consumption Increases When Economies Are Growing
The steel market has witnessed a significant increase in the past 4 years. There has been a constant record of the steel industry for the past five years with no other industry coming even close in the last 37 years.The steel industry market leader is China. The growth of steel production in China has risen from 13% in 1995 to almost a double of 32% in 2005. However, China's demand for steel has grown just as fast, and it remains a net importer of steel.
These days, the steel industry is highly volatile, depending greatly on global supply and demand trends. The steel segment is greatly influenced by economic changes.It was the terrible change that occurred in the 2008-2009 period that led to the initiation of import tariffs by the US. Even in the UK market there was a sharp fall in the use of steel in the second half of 2009. As a result, output in the 1st half of the year was almost 23% down on the same period of 2008. Along with UK all other world countries also had to face a situation of steep fall in the demand for goods globally.

Over the course of the 20th century, production of crude steel has risen at an astounding rate, now fast approaching a production level of 800 million tons per year.Now it is absolutely impossible to do anything without stell.
There ahs been an increase of 3.3% every year in the steel use each year in the 20th century.In the 19th century there was a total production of 37% of the world steel by the US. With post war industrial development in Asia that region now (at the turn of the century) accounts for almost 40%, with Europe (including the former Soviet Union) producing 36% and North America 14.5%.
There will be the necessity for steel in any country that is undertaking a lot of economic developments like new buildings, transport and infrastructure.The global recession coupled with a decrease in the produce of steel leads to investments getting defaulted. There has been both recession and boom witnessed in the past three decades along with the global movements as well. As a result of this one has seen an increased need for steel beginning with Western Europe followed by USA, Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and Japan. Nevertheless one feels the demand for steel in the developing economies to be more perpetual .

Considering a steel consumption of 300 kg per man per year to be a fair level of economic development, India will have to come up to somewhere around 300 million tonnes, if it is to fulfill its ambitions of being a developed country. Even though this target seems far reaching with the present production at only 50 million tones one has to bear in mind the earlier things that have led to this situation. India was producing only around a million tonnes of steel at the time of its independence in 1947. By 1991, when the economy was opened up steel production grew to around 14 million tonnes. Thereafter, it doubled in the next 10 years, and then it is doubling again, maybe over a slightly longer span. India will come to the second position as expectations are that it will reach a level of 124 million tons by 2012 and 275 million tons by 2020 .
The developed economies are now targeting only on strengthening the market. The last few years has witnessed a period of mergers and acquisitions. The focus is on technological improvements and new products.
Globally, the steel industry became a billion tonne industry in 2004. Its further growth lays on the need for steel in the developing countries.

Does anybody own a double lined thermal stainless steel coffee carafe? If so, does it get real warm when you?

I have a double lined carafe and it stays cool to the touch even with boiling hot liquid inside. It can keep a pot of coffee hot for 24 hours. I would have to guess that yours isn't double lined.
