Picking your pattern
Of course, stripes are the typical pattern of choice for the nautical look, whether horizontal or vertical and you'll find lots of shoes, especially wedges, have striped patterns in abundance in nautical colours. If you're not in to stripes, a spotted print will also work really well and there are so many polka dot shoes and bags around at the moment. Other prints like hearts, birds and stars can also work with the sailor girl trend but have a more contemporary look.
Getting the colours right
The nautical look is all about the colours and they're traditionally in palettes of blue, white and red, which are the perfect shades to pull off this trend. You could wear shoes with all these colours in if you want to create a sailor girl look with your shoes alone, but if you're concentrating on your outfit then a pair of shoes in two or just one of these colours will really complement your clothing.
It's all about accessorising
