What kind of stabilizer should I use when embroidering towels?
This is my first time embroidering. I'm doing monogramed towels for all the family for Christmas. I am using white towels with black thread.
What type of stabilizer do I use on the bottom?
What kind of stabilizer or topping do I use on the top?
What is the best type of thread to use?
Do I need to pre-wash the 100% cotton towels?

If this is for machine embroidery...You need to use a clear plastic stabilizer on the top. This pushes down the terrry loops so you can sew on top it it. It rips right off when you are done. When you wash it the rest of the stabilizer will melt away. You need to use embroidery thread from Sulky, 40wt. it should have a sheen to it. And use embroidery bobbin thread. in white for the bottom. I do not use any stabilizer on the bottom
I do not pre wash before I embroider. Especially if it is a gift.
