Towels Linens
Info on Linens
Household linens are needed in the kitchen, bathroom, dining room and bedroom. Picking quality linens fitting for each purpose is not hard. Here are some good guidelines for each room.
Kitchen linens are basically dish towels in variable sizes. Place mats are also good to have if the kitchen includes a tiny table or breakfast bar. Kitchen linens must be washable and spongy. Cotton is perfect for kitchen towels. Have some little towels for dish scrubbing, terry towels for absorbency, and massive flour sack towels for lint-free drying of glasses.
For the bath, get the thickest cotton terry towels available. Towel sets contain a washcloth, hand towel, and bath towel. Have multiple washcloths on hand, as these wear out quickly than the bigger towels. Bath sheets are extra-large bath towels and are definitely superb for bigger guys who find standard towels a bit skimpy. A bath mat is also big for wet feet leaving of the shower.
If you have a formal eating room, expect to have one or two tablecloths to fit the dining table. Matching cloth napkins are great to have for fancy meals. Polyester/cotton blends are a good choice to minimize ironing of large tablecloths.
In summary, linens for the bedroom should be of quality cotton fabrics for comfort. Immense thread counts mean sheets will be durable. Flannel sheets are superb for frigid climates. Schedule have at least a pair of sets of sheets for each bed in the home. Twin sheet sets have one pillowcase while full, queen, and king sets come with two. Since many folks use more than one pillow, be sure to have extra pillowcases available.

How do hotels get sheets and towels so perfectly white?
I've tried bleach, oxyclean, and even bluing, and I can't get my linens that white. Anyone out there who works in the hotel or laundry business and knows the secret?
For one thing they only wash whites, never any colors mixed in which can cause them to become dingy. Another, the water temperature is 160F and we have automatic dispensers for detergent and bleach. I'm not sure if the detergent is an extra strength product or not, I don't think so. But probably the biggest factor is that at the first sign of yellowing or stains.......they're thrown away! That would be impractical to do at home but it's probably the main reason they always look so white.
