The Best Diet For Losing Weight

What not to eat on a diet? If you are on a diet, you should be careful in choosing your foods correctly. We usually get confused while deciding our list of options and we end up consuming some wrong food. The whole process of diet may take a wrong turn if we don't avoid them. Avoidance of some harmful foods is as important as consuming the right kind of food. A proper diet helps your body to shed those extra calories from your body and gives you a slimmer appearance.

Low fat food you can get at the super market is calorie rich and can cause you harm. A type of fat called omega 3 discovered in fish oil is good for metabolism and does wonders in reducing harmful fats in the body. Starving yourself only increases acid generation in the stomach and can leave you with problems like ulcers. You may have discovered false advertisements concerning cookie diets, secret syrup, water diets and herbals.

You will also need to evaluate your daily nutritional needs versus your daily activity levels. Some diet plans are very restrictive on the amount of calories that you can consume. If you are a very active person, choosing a diet such as this will not provide you with an adequate level of nutrition, and could actually cause you to become ill. On the other hand, if you are not an active person, and lead a very sedentary lifestyle, you do not want to choose a diet with high daily calorie levels, or you will never lose weight.

Low fat diets - These types of fad diets in theory seem as if they would work, right? Well, the fact of the matter is that there are specific types of fats that our bodies actually do need. Those fats are monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, Omega fatty acids, etc. Fad diets such as low fat diets want you to restrict ALL types of fats.

It is similar to weight watchers, in that you can choose the foods you eat to help you lose weight by counting the calories. With Weight Watchers you count the points to add up to the total you are allowed depending on your present weight and the amount you want to lose.

Over a six month study between Atkins, Zone, South Beach and Weight Watchers revealed that those on Atkins lose more weight initially. But this effect wore off and at the end of the study the participants had lost on all programs had lost weight in a fixed range.

The results of this study indicated that all diets resulted in weight loss as long as the participants stuck to it. One other point to note was that weight loss was greater in participants who supplemented their nutrition with regular exercise.

The human body over thousands of years has developed a weight controlling mechanism. When food is available, then the body stores it as fat for times, when food is not available. And when times are tough and food is not available then your body tries to "protect" you by holding on to the fat. Your body does not care if you want to lose weight to look better, very low calories mean starvation. This is called the starvation mode.

You could also start eating curd as desserts. Sugar means high calories. So it is important to eliminate the intake of calories from chocolates, pastries and cakes and this can be done by looking for alternatives for desserts. You could have plain curd, flavored curd or curd with fruits. Fruits which contain water like watermelons and tomatoes are just perfect. They contain 90 - 95% of water, which means there are minimal calories and no addition of pounds.

What do you think of my water diet routine?

To abide to the recommended 8 glasses a day, here is my water diet schedule:

2 glasses before a healthy breakfast
2 glasses before a small healthy lunch
2 glasses of water before a really light healthy dinner
2 or more glasses throughout the day....

.. and that's my water diet. all natural. no diet pills or teas. and of course, exercise.....30 mins walking/running....200 crunches.... and don't forget the kegels...

Well...drinking water THROUHGOUT the day aids digestion, 3 meals a day are not recommended anymore. 6 smaller meals every 3 hours is now recommended this keeps your metabolism up and burns more calories throughout the day. Take it easy there isnt really a specific time to drink water, BUT drinking water WITH your meal or immediately before is not recommended as it will interfere with your stomach acids and you wont digest your food properly.

Walking has got to be the easiset way to burn calories. I walk roughly 1 Km to work, its takes 13 to 14 minutes at a reasonable pace, but if I walk that same distance in only 10 minutes I am sweating and my heartrate is up, apparently I'm burning TWICE as much calories in the SAME distance. SAME distance LESS time and TWICE as many calories burned!!!!
